Update 2: One of the biggest free farrowing projects we've ever done!

12 01 2020Time: 1 minute

Last week the last parts arrived on site for one of the biggest free farrowing projects we’ve ever done. 560 free farrowing crates came in and were installed in this large barn in Germany. What’s special about the crates?

The crates in this project comply with latest German Legislation that obliges pig farmers to shift towards loose-housed sows in 15 years. To reduce risks of piglet crushing, the sow can be confined for the first three to five days where risks of piglet crushing are the highest. After three to five days the crate can be opened to create maximum space for loose-housed sows. The Pro Grip floorings gives piglets and sows optimal grip anywhere in the pen to reduce risks of accidents by slipping.
